Red Kite Feeding Station

Gigrin Farm, South Street, Rhayader LD6 5BL, UK – 01597 810243

Arrived about 12 midday, pouring with rain and cold but the staff were happy and informative, we decided to take the farm walk, about a mile round trip, could have been longer if we had gone up to the badger sett, but as I said cold and rain and children don't mix all the time. Walk finishes at the hides and it was feeding time, mixed bunch of people from families to professional photographers. One of the hides is a dog free hide so if your nervous of dogs no problem. The kites did not disappoint there were about 200 of them mixed with about 5 buzzards and lots of crows and rooks. The whole family really enjoyed it and I would recommend it and at Ā£20 for a family ticket well worth it. There is a gift shop and a small cafe, but the seating area is outside, undercover but outsidešŸ¤£. There is also a white kite and a white buzzard which I have not seen before, got the photographers very excited.

What an amazing place, lovely gift shop and cafe on site. I visited on a Wet cold November day, but i was still amazed by the massive number of Red Kites that came in to feed. I will for sure be going back in the warmer weather. If you want to see the beautiful red kites up close then this is the place. The staff on site are friendly and well educated with facts about the Kites.
